I am taking the Mechanical MOOC 6.189 and I am on the 2nd week. I am using python 3.1. I need help installing python 2.68.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can get major versions here: http://www.python.org/download/ But if you need 2.68 specifically you can find it here: http://www.python.org/download/releases/

Are you on Mac or PC? Macs usually have 2.6 installed, just type "python2.6" in the Terminal

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

And the class works well in most any 2.x version without any major modifications. So 2.7.2 is not really any worse than 2.6.x. Just grab the latest 2.x for your system and you should be happy. And like vshamanov pointed out, some OSes hav Python already. Mac and well as LINUX to name a couple.

If you still want 2.6.x you can download an installer here http://www.python.org/download/releases/2.6.6/
