The inequality 5x - 2y + 1 > 0 is satisfied by point (-2, -1)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-2 i think

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

well...lets check by subbing in the values 5x - 2y + 1 < 0 x = -2 and y = -1 5(-2) - 2(-1) + 1 < 0 -10 + 2 + 1 < 0 -10 + 3 < 0 -7 < 0 <-- does this look correct to you ? If it looks correct, and -7 is less then 0, then the points satisfy the inequality. If this doesn't look correct, and -7 is not less then 0, then the points do not satisfy the inequality. So, what do you think ?
