OpenStudy (math2400):

ok do you know how to FOIL?

OpenStudy (math2400):

stands for: First Outer Inner Last

OpenStudy (anonymous):

um i think so can show me.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x^2-49

OpenStudy (anonymous):

r u sure thats right

OpenStudy (math2400):

yes absolutely(: (x+7)(x-7) so our first number will be: x^2 then we do our Outer which will be x times -7 so we get -7x Inner will be 7x and last will be -49

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank u :) i have more questions ok

OpenStudy (math2400):

put it together and you get x^2-7x+7x-49 as you see the 7x cancels out and you get x^2-49

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks :)

OpenStudy (math2400):

no problem!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay what about this one (2x-5y)exponent 2

OpenStudy (math2400):

rewrite like this: (2x-5y)(2x-5y) then do FOIL. try it and ill check your work if you want

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay is it 4x\[4x ^{2}-25\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y

OpenStudy (math2400):

let me check...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (math2400):

4x-10xy-10yx+25y^s answer: 4x-20xy+25y^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you :)
