The difference between a job shadow and an internship is what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think there is no difference between these two words of same meaning

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Not really. An intern may be set to a task and let loose to learn from the process. A shadow stays with their trainer, mentor, etc. Also, someone may already have a job in a company and be put as a shadow on someone else to become a backup to that other position. That is very different from being an intern.

OpenStudy (dean.shyy):

Off the top of my head...a job shadow is to follow and observe a particular job, while an internship is participating in the job, while being supervised.
