A pure Si crystal contains about 5 × 1022 atoms/cm3 . In a pure Si crystal at temperature 200ºC (very hot), there are about 1.5 × 1014 electrons/cm3 in the conducting band. Which would be more conducting—a pure Si crystal at 200ºC, or a Si crystal doped with one part per million of phosphorus at room temperature (about 22ºC)?
