Find 10 ½% of 60

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

10.5% = 0.105 .105*60 = 6.3

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

just remember that 'percent' means "for each 100" so 10.5% = 10.5/100 and 10.5% of 60 = \(\dfrac{10.5}{100}*60 = 6.3\)

" of " in math problems means multiply So, 10 1/2% of 60 means 10 1/2% x 60 By the way, lets turn 10 1/2% to 10.5%. Now we need to turn this into a decimal. This can be done by moving the decimal two spaces to the left. If it didn't already have a decimal, you would move it two spaces to the left of the percent sign. So, 10.5% = .105 Now the problem reads : 0.105 x 60 = 6.3 check.... 6.3 = x% of 60 6.3 = 60x% 6.3/60 = x% .105 = x% 10.5 %= x (correct)
