Gravity(or weight) seems to be the most common effect of mass. There must be several other ways to  do that. We can use Newton's second law. Apply some known force to the body and note its acceleration.Then use F=ma. The force may be applied in any way.It may be electrostatic or a gravitational force between that body and some other small body nearby.
