A value of "h" that is less than zero translates the parent function f(x) = log(x) right. any know if its true or false ?? please

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

so ln(x+h)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

yes its true, as long as x+h>0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well actually i dont know it just gave me that problem to solve "h"

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

well to move a function left and right the change needs to be on the "inside" so I think this is what they are talking about.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so your saying you think its true ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just turned in the grade and it was false but thank you

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

im sorry man, it is true for well defined functions f(x+h) will move f(x) to the right if h is negative and to the left if h is positive. They should have of course been more specific about what h was I guess. If all they truly gave you was the question they posted(not inferring its not) then you have a legitimate complaint...Else they might have taken in to account the fact that I said that x+h>0 but I don't know....
