what is the speed of alpha, beta and gamma rays ???

OpenStudy (souvik):

gamma rays is an electromagnetic wave..it's speed is the same that of light

OpenStudy (jmark):

The speed of alpha, beta and gamma rays are equal To know more about these rays http://physics.tutorvista.com/waves/gamma-radiation.html

OpenStudy (anonymous):

gamma waves will always travel with speed of light. While speed of alpha and beta particles depend upon the energy released due to disintegration of nucleus that is converted into K.E. of alpha particle and the residual atom and then an application of conservation of momentum. I did a few numericals on these a few months back in which we were to calculate speed of alpha particles given the mass of initial atom and residual final atom. There were some interesting results which i do not quite remember now!
