The odometer of a old car functions improperly and registers only 4 miles for every 5 miles driven. if the odometer indicates 125 miles ,how many miles has the car actually gone?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

156.25

@Rex831 I am not sure how to get that. Can you explain please?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@malibugranprix2000 At first plz tell me is my answer crct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is not a multiple choice if your asking that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok When 4 miles is shown by the odometer then the car has actually travelled 5 miles therefore When 1 mile is shown by the odometer then the car has actually travelled 5/4 miles Which means if the odometer shows 125 miles then the car has actually travelled (5/4 )X 125=156.25 miles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh wow I did not see that. That makes sense.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:)
