Does anyone get this?(pic below) Chords, tangents, circles quiestion.
I could use some help on this, im trying to find the approx. value.
Well, lets look at the picture
A tangent line intersects at only one point, in this case at the edge of a circle
k
Now, if the angle was including the center of the circle (point T) it would be 90 degrees. Do you understand why?
yes because it would be a right angle
So, since the angle we are trying to find exceeds the measure of a right angle, what must the degree be higher than?
90. i figured that out so far... but then i get stuck on the nxt step.
You seem to have the answer right there- the angle must be greater than 90 degrees, so what answer indicates that?
So its not D and its not C FOR SURE. So were left with A and B right?
B would be my answer.
Why is it not D? That answer is saying that the measure of the angle VWZ is greater then 90 degrees, which we just proved
Now if it was angle VWY, it would have to be less then 90 degrees
ooPS, Sorry its great than 90. So my answer would be D.
Correct! You got it!
I GOT THE SYMBOLS MIXED UP. Sorry for caps*
thx!!
No problem, sometimes its the small things that we overlook.
Best of luck with your work!
