How to find the equation of a parabola?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

that sounds very vague :/

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

what's the context?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Directrix = 3 and the point of symmetry is at (1,4)

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

sounds still very ambiguous

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

if (1, 4) is a symmetric point, it could be symmetric with (-1, 4) or (1, -4) or if the vertex is not the center, it could be elsewhere, the directrix being 3 means little, it could be x =3 or y=3 or y=-3 or x = -3, they're all valid for a distance of 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's alright I found it
