salt, lemon juice, water are mixed by weight in the ratio 1:4:5 respectively to produce a certain type of drink. In order to make 5 liters of this drink, what amount of salt in liters is required? ...............a) 2....b)1...c) 1/2...d)3/4...e) 1/4

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Way to do this would be 1:4:5 1x + 4x + 5x = 5 (liters) Solve for x, and work out the appropriate share for salt.

so x would be the answer then?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

As it turns out, yes, because there is only one part salt. (1:4:5)
