Why might the action of the Seljuks in conquering Southwest Asia have ignited the Christian Crusades?

There were a lot of reasons why the Crusades were called but the biggest one was that Christian Europe and the Pope wanted to take back the Holy Land -- most importantly, Jerusalem -- from the Muslims. To the Pope, he saw the Muslim Seljuks as heretics and mortal enemies of the Church.
