where is the picture

OpenStudy (mertsj):
Let the vertical edges have length y
4y+8x=144
4y=144-8x
y=36-2x
V=x(x)(36-2x)
V=x^2(36-2x)
But 36-2x=2(18-x)
V=x^2(2)(18-x)
V=2x^2(18-x)

i get how you id it :)

@Loser66 Didn't @Mertsj help already.
OpenStudy (loser66):
b is quite easy, but c is not
OpenStudy (mertsj):
b) If Volume is positive then the produce of the factors 2, x^2 and 18-x must be positive. 2 and x^2 will always be positive of 18-x must also be positive.
Write and solve this inequality:
18-x>0
That will be your domain.

The maximum value of the function will be when x is at a maximum. From solving the inequality 18-x>0 you find that x < 18 so choose a value for x that is less than 18 but very close to 18. Calculate the volume for that value. That will give you an estimate of the maximum volume.
