Hominids became more dependent on vision over time and less so on their other senses. Hominid depth perception decreased, and eye size increased to compensate. Hominid brains increased in size, which required their sensory organs to increase in size as well. Hominids were less likely to sustain injuries when their eyes faced the direction of their motion.
