How would i set up the equation to solve this problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (amistre64):

given crossing secants, the ratio of parts is equal

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the crossing is outside the cirlce on yours, but the parts are still there

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, 53x= 62x ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i still dont get how to set up the equation..your problem doesnt look like mine.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

thats spose to be a 5 up top, not a 3x lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh.. 5x+5+3x=6+6+2x ??

OpenStudy (amistre64):

|dw:1372777782278:dw|

OpenStudy (amistre64):

since there are parts that need to be added: 6 + 2x and 5 + 3x to make a total length of one part of the crossings

OpenStudy (amistre64):

so: 5(5+3x) = 6(6+2x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

..k

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=11/3

OpenStudy (amistre64):

25+15x = 36+12x 3x = 11 yes so, since JK is 3x, JK = 3(11/3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thx.(:
