how can water displacement be used to measure the density of an irregularly - shaped solid?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it depends on pascals law i feel

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well.. the density of the object is basically the ratio of mass by volume.. or said simply, it's the amount of mass that occupies the same volume..

Archimedes principle is used here.. as the volume of water displaced can be measured and so can be the mass.. u find their ratio and compare to a table which gives the original density of substances.. that's how u find the density of an irregularly shaped object via water displacement method
