how do you solve using subitution 4y-x=1 -2x=5 -8y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In order to utilize substitution you must isolate either the x or y in one equation. Since your first equation 4y-x=1 is already in an easier format we will utilize this one. Isolate the x, take that value and substitute it for the x value in the second equation. Solve This will give you the y value of your equation. Substitute your y value into the original equation and solve this will give you your ordered pair
