Which set of numbers does not create a triangle? 115 cm, 65 cm, 1.5 m 5 m, 9 m, 1500 cm 12.5 ft, 3 yd, 19.75 ft 6 yd, 33 ft, 15 yd

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

The sum of the lengths of any two sides must be greater than the third length.

OpenStudy (nurali):

i think 5 m, 9 m, 1500 cm.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5 m, 9 m, 1500 cm.... because summing 5m and 1500 cm is still less than 9m which violates the fact about triangles that.. the sum of two sides of any freaking triangle must be greater than the third one..

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Let's look at choice A as an example: 115 cm, 65 cm, 1.5 m 115 cm, 65 cm, 150 cm 115 + 65 > 150 65 + 150 > 115 115 +150 > 65 All are true, so choice A creates a triangle.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Let's look at choice B: 5 m, 9 m, 1500 cm 5 m, 9 m, 15 m 5 + 9 < 15 Here's the problem
