OpenStudy (amistre64):

when does x+3 = 0?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

and by the way, ive never liked that setup for synthetic division

OpenStudy (jazzyfa30):

never i think and lol

OpenStudy (amistre64):

well, x+3 = 0 has a solution

OpenStudy (amistre64):

we are trying to define the value we need in that top right corner

OpenStudy (jazzyfa30):

ok

OpenStudy (amistre64):

also, the poly on the left doesnt have all of its degreed parts; theres exponents missing which have to be zeroed in

OpenStudy (jazzyfa30):

ok

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if I were to set this up id forget about dropping the variables, they are useful reminders; and i would put the multipler down there at the bottom where it is multiplying things to begin with: and the solution to x+3 = 0 is the value of x zero in the missing degrees vv 2x^3 + 0 -5x + 40 0 <-- add this row ------------------- c | <-- multiply this row

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the value of *c that is

OpenStudy (jazzyfa30):

ok
