OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Well. What is (1/3) + (3/8) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

17/24

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but i don't know where to go from there

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Alright. So you got 17/24. Why did we add the 2 fraction? Well because a fraction is a "A small or tiny part, amount, or proportion of something." Now what is the shaded part? Well, you want to do 1 - (17/24) Why? Because 1 is the whole part of the circle. When you subtract that my the non-shaded part, you get the shaded part. Does it make sense? I hope this help!

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

So what is 1 - (17/24)?
