x = 0.8x + 72

OpenStudy (anonymous):

solve for x

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Right solve for 'x' ...what would we do? we have 2 'x' terms...and we want 1 'x' term.....so we combine them subtract .8x from both sides x - .8x = 72 what is x - .8x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its .2x=72 72/.2=360

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

That would be correct! now check it x = .8x + 72 360 = .8(360) + 72 360 = 288 + 72 360 = 360 So yes it is correct x = 360
