The quadratic equation's discriminant is given by \[b^2-4ac\] . Thus discriminant of the above equation \[2x^2+5x+2=0\] is 25-16 = 9. As \[9>0\] the equation has real and distinct roots.. Hope this solved your problem. Have a nice day!!
