Farmer Ed has 3500 meters of fencing and wants to enclose a rectangular plot that borders on a river. If farmer Ed does not fence the side along the river, what is the largest are that can be enclosed?

That will give you hte value of x that creates the largest area. Then plug in that value of x into the expression for the area, and find the maximum area.
