18+3x+2?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
im lost
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
2x^3 + 4x^3 = 6x^3
you just add the coefficients or the numbers in front
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
the same is done for -5x and 8x
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
and the constant terms as well: -1 and 3

yeah and I got 18+3x+2
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
Not sure how you got the 18
(2x^3 - 5x - 1) + (4x^3 + 8x + 3)
2x^3 - 5x - 1 + 4x^3 + 8x + 3
(2x^3 + 4x^3) + (-5x + 8x) + (-1 + 3)
(6x^3) + (3x) + (2)
6x^3 + 3x + 2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
thank you!
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
oh wait I see now, you did 6 times 3 = 18
but 6x^3 doesn't mean that (it does get a bit confusing)
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
yw though
