Solve x/4 + 12 < 42. Answer x < 7.5 x < 120 x < 13.5 x < 216

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im not sure how to solve this v.v

OpenStudy (souvik):

x/4<42-12

OpenStudy (souvik):

i subtract 12 from both sides

OpenStudy (souvik):

x/4<30 now multiply 4 x*4/4<30*4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-.- im still confused...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x\[x +12\times4<42\times4\] \[x +48<168\]

OpenStudy (souvik):

x/4+12<42 x/4+12-12<42-12 x/4<30 x/4*4<30*4 x<120

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[x <168-48\]

OpenStudy (nirmalnema):

x/4 + 12 < 42 transfer 12 to other side... x/4<42-12 x/4<30 divide by four on both the side x<30/4 so u get x<7.5

OpenStudy (souvik):

x/4<30 if you divide by four on both side..you would get x/16<7.5 @nirmalnema

OpenStudy (nirmalnema):

sorry thats a mistake i havent seen the que correctly.. the correct ans is x<120 transfer the four to the rhs..
