magic show sold tickets for $2 for every child and $3 for every adult. the total sales were $118. the difference of the two times the number of adults and half the children will total 20. using elimination method for the system for equations, what is the number of adults and children at the magic show?

Let a=number of children and b=number of adults. We know that the total sales were $118, so 2 times the number of children plus three times the number of adults equals 118: 2a+3b=118 And from the next statement: 2b-.5a=20 Now solve this system of equations using the elimination method.
