Question 8 (Multiple Choice Worth 3 points) [2.02] MA.8.A.6.4 Which equation has the solution 4x - 2= -10? x = -3 x = 2 x = 3 x = -2
Hi there, please dont leave my question without atleast attempting to try it. thank you. -Zackeria
Oh and please dont think I DIDNT try and that all I want is answers.
Maybe was thinking that. How far have you got trying it? What was your first step?
Or are you unsure the best way to start?
Unsure, I'm thinking to divide and multiply but I dont know what to do so yeah.. im unsure.
Its best to get just the x's on one side before you start dividing and things. I would add 2 to both sides first
which gets rid of the minus 2, and leaves you with 4x = -8 what do you think from here?
As a hint you want x on its own, so how can you get rid of the "4" thats multiplying it. What undoes multiplication?
Division?
yeah! so if you divide both sides by 4 what do you get?
we know on the left side you get just x, that was the point of dividing the 4 away. What about on the right side?
we know that the answer has to have a negative in it eliminating two choices
