To solve this system using the addition method, you would need to multiply the first equation by what number in order for the x's to add out? 2x + 3y = 8 -6x + 4y = 11

In order to use the addition method, you need the amount of x'es in one equation to be the negative of the amount of x'es in the other. So, in this case, the second equation has -6x. So, the first equation needs +6x. It already has 2x, so to make this into 6x we need to multiply it by 3.
