When x3+3x2-2x+7 is divided by x+1, the remainder is : 7 8 9 11 13

OpenStudy (amistre64):

runthe synthetic division

OpenStudy (austinl):

Aye, good plan. I was trying to get something to work... but it seems it isn't possible on this site.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

x^3 +3x^2 -2x +7 0 -1 -2 etc... -------------------- -1 ) 1 2 -4

OpenStudy (loser66):

my prof taught me that just plug -1 into the equation, the result is the remainder of the problem. I got 11

OpenStudy (amistre64):

whats the remainder when its divided by x-57 then :)

OpenStudy (loser66):

the same, put x = 57 and calculate the result

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if its a calculator setup .... thats fine too, but if by hand id rather stick with adding and multiplying

OpenStudy (loser66):

but it's the fastest way to figure out the remainder, right?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

depends on what yo have to work with at your disposal

OpenStudy (loser66):

ok, got what you mean.
