OpenStudy (mazehaq):

Critical thinking vs. scientific method. How are they the same & different? Examples of each approach? Thanks.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The scientific method is a series of concrete steps to follow for each and every experiment. Critical thinking on the other hand doesn't have formal steps so much as it is a method of thinking. An example of the first would be something like collecting data on rainfall and mushroom growth and then forming an if-then hypothesis. An example of the second would be concentrated thought about when rainfall and mushroom growth coincide and applying known facts to your ideas. They are the same in that they are both methods of thinking that allow someone to analyze data and come to more complex and in-depth conclusions.
