Anyone knows a website with real life problems of calculos and algebra?
I learn better that way. It keeps me engaged to learn by doing something that relates to the real word or exploring the original problem that took the. Inventor to the solution.
speaking as an engineering graduate, i don't think calculus and algebra have direct applications in real life. We just use *some* concepts from those subjects in more complex subjects that have the direct application in real life. anyway....i think i recall purplemath.com having your preferences
But then you should have plenty of practical situations where you apply calculus no?
well if you want to know the total distance traveled by a train every millisecond given discrete speeds, then yes, you'll use integration
for algebra, the most times i use it is when i do systems of equations. especially when i buy different things in a restaurant then i try to find out the individual prices using systems of equations
Great. Liked that train example. Were to learning materials that teach trough real problems like that?
Anyone?
have u tried MIT OCW ?
Yes i did. But i did not find real life problems learning
There is a set of books called Algebra for the practical man and Calculus for the practical man.
hippo campus .... check it out
Remember that Physics is a very common application of Mathematics in the real world.
Yes, physics. Thats a good idea. Id like to learn by doing. I like the books mathematics. For the practical man. Quite old but that might just be it. Thanks
Thanks for trying to learn :)
