how to find a midpoint?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A midpoint between two points can be found at the average of their x values and the average of their y values. So, lets take (x_1,y_1) and (x_2,y_2) as our two endpoints. The midpoint is: \[( \frac{ x_1 + x_2 }{ 2 } , \frac{ y_1 + y_2 }{ 2 })\]
