How to find the surface area steps? {posted pic below}

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im not sure about the steps to find the surface area..

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

its just a prism

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

use the regular prism formula

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well, take a look at the prism it's really 6 rectangles stacked up on each other at the corners

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, i see that(:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ganeshie8 thats what im forgetting. (x

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

so you ADD UP the area of each of the rectangles, and the sum is the area of the whole prism

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

do which ever way u feel easy

hartnn (hartnn):

the formula of total surface are of a prism will be \(=2(l*h+h*w+w*l)\) the same you'll get by adding areas of those 6 rectangles...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do i use this? 2ab + 2bc + 2ac

hartnn (hartnn):

yes^

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright, im going to try working it out..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2(6*4.6)+2(4.6*15)+2(6*15)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Like that?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 373.2 as my answer. thanks guys!((:

hartnn (hartnn):

correct :)
