OpenStudy (preetha):

And here are the top 3 designs for the Mobile App for OpenStudy design contest. Cast your vote and help us choose the best design!

OpenStudy (preetha):

See the blog for the pictures: http://blog.openstudy.com/?p=2794 and the form to cast your vote. And remember - no criticism, meanness or other rudeness! These OpenStudiers have done a fabulous job and we love all the designs.

OpenStudy (zale101):

I like @dumbsearch2, his is more organizes, and also @hba has a good OS home page design, i like @thomaster's profile page. My vote goes to @dumbsearch2

OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

Nice! @Preetha do you want to also post this in the Feedback section? :)

OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

BTW everyone's designs look quite nice! :) @Preetha I PMed you regarding some errors in the way you presented certain things of my submission.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

THEY ALL LOOK AWESOME :) Each design has its pros and cons (not saying they suck or anything because they certainly do not) but maybe, just maybe, couldn't at the end instead of choosing just one user's design, couldn't there be like a combination. Like they could use something outstanding (the best i mean, because everything is outstanding) from one user, lets say the homepage is awesome from one of the users design; so that could be used. And then lets say another user's design has an awesome templates such as the utilities (messages, notifications, etc.) so that could be used. But then the other user has an awesome template and UI design; so why not use that one. That way it could be an even more awesome app. Plus all the users win; well at least they all could feel good, that their work was used; they are all great works, but if we have to choose one, well that is hard. LOL -Just a suggestion. Feel free to give it a thought :) Thanx for reading.

OpenStudy (opcode):

I like Sean's layout, its smooth and simplistic. Anyway, they all had good ideas. :-).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My vote goes to @dumbsearch2 :) He did a pretty awesome job on it. User-friendly, simple, and easier to use than the others I think.

OpenStudy (preetha):

What elements of each design did you all like? And vote on the form, not here.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is the form the first link @Preetha

OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

Yes, @Loujoelou

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k thx :)

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

I'll vote for Sean's design. It cleans up the current mobile version oh and CHAT! FINALLY!

thomaster (thomaster):

I added some things :) Also I totally forgot about the chat in the last version :P Here's the new one. By the way my design is just a rough sketch, of couse this is not how it would look. Also I really like Sean's design :) It's very simple and clear. The swipe up chat is a very good idea.

OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

@thomaster You're allowed to repost your design after and change it after the competition has already started?

thomaster (thomaster):

I don't really see it as a competition. I just made my design in paint xD I could have worked it all out in photoshop but I simply do not have the time for that at the moment. The main point is so show some ideas about how the app should work and look like. Not who's going to win.

OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

Preetha had forgot to post certain screenshots of the original in the blog posts, so I'll just post them here. She put one of them twice on the blog post. Here is the complete set.

OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

@thomaster For some though, they may have put some effort in this competition, and therefore it would still be nice to stick somewhat to the rules.

thomaster (thomaster):

I don't see what's the problem. It wouldn't be good if 1 app would win and only the features in that app were implemented in the real app. I think we should pick the best design (which is obviously the one you made) and combine the best features/ideas. So everybody wins :)

thomaster (thomaster):

After all we want the app to be the best for the users of OpenStudy, not only for the winner of the contest. So everybody should be able to give their opinions/ideas. Same way the hackathon works.

OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

You can rewrite the rules, but I find it only fair that the person with most merit still will win the prizes. I joined this competition with this understanding :) BTW I love your design! Its quite nice! Don't feel discouraged...

thomaster (thomaster):

Oh I see. I joined this competition to have some imput in creating the best app. So I don't really care about this price :) As far as i'm concerned, you should win it. You seem to have been working really hard on this app. I just made a sketch to show my vision on the app. I'll vote for you \(\huge\ddot\smile\)

mathslover (mathslover):

WOW! What an awesome work by those three. Thomaster's one is excellent but dumb's is also excellent. Hba has a nice one too. I will vote up for Dumb Search's one though as it is good for proffessional ones..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (uri):

I won't vote for anyone...Hba is my bro,Thomaster is my Bestfriend and Sean i like him :3 So sorry. :)

OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

I would love to collaborate on one app when the design contest is done. But I think that, for now, the design contest should go as planned, with the regular prizes ect. Afterwords, we could try to work together.

OpenStudy (notamathgenius):

I am going with Seans, because idek i just like it alot :D

OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

Remember guys to vote on this form page: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1aqT_QmbIAX9CJ-wx9DfU4zR9cuUnIgkELqmIg5K_3Ek/viewform Voting on the comments of the blog or on the thread is nice, but won't effect the competition :) The form is also linked to from the blog :]

OpenStudy (ja1):

Okay so here is my verdict: @thomaster wonderful design, truly, I mean it's all there, it's simple, it's easy, it get's things done. But I think dumbsearch did a good job at bringing your design into a simplistic environment, his is fluid, it's simple, it's modern, and most importantly it is User friendly, and it fits the mobile design quite well, it takes off your bulkier design and simplifies it down to wonderful app. Now of course, @dumbsearch2 design is nowhere near perfect but it gives the concept we need, fast, fluid, easy, and most importantly mobile, we need a robust "on the go" app and dumbsearch delivered :) but still I loved your design thom it was good but not the simpler design we need, and @hba ... well... I liked the way you were going, simple design, but you didn't quite paint the picture fully :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They're all awsome!!!!Mmm..kinda confused ugh its freakin hard ...=_=@dumbsearch2 's design is really clean N gives the main point : ) I'll vote for dumbsearch..Well and BTW the other two also did a greeeaaat job XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@dumbsearch2 probably has the best one, but I don't like the metal background on the swipe instructions and "Mathematics Chat" title. That's the kind of design that Apple's trying to move away from with iOS 7.

OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

It's true, I was trying to simulate the linen in iOS 5/6- remember that I had submitted my design before the iOS 7 release, so I tried to keep my design in style with the current iOS version. Note that this could always be adjusted @conorPF
