When researching, you need to be sure to research all sides and opinions fully, even when doing so for a persuasive (and therefore, typically biased) paper. If you become bias, you will indirectly influence your audience with lopsided "evidence" and opinionated but not fully explained statements. The best way to write any kind of paper is by knowing and talking about all sides- even if you lean one way or the other, let your audience make their own decision, not a misinformed one.
