the diameter of a quarter is 23.9mm. Find the circumference.

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

To find the circumference of a circle, you use the formula d(pi) So what do you think you do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 3.14 times 23.9

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Well, you want to use the calculator to get the circumference as close as possible.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not sure

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

You have a calculator?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Alright, so type in 23.9. Next click the multiply button, and then the pi button. What does that give you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

75.084

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that the answer?

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

Nice rounding. Well yes. You would get an irrational number, so you must round it. You can round it to 75.084, or 75.1, or just 75. Either way, it would still be correct.

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

I hope this help! :)

OpenStudy (goldphenoix):

By the way, make sure to write the unit, mm. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks a lot! you really did help
