Great Britain wanted to get back the money that they lose during the French and Indian War by taxing the 13 colonies. The 13 colonies however didn't accept this new thing that they had to do. Meaning that Britain had shipped majority of their things to the thirteen colonies. However, to use these materials the people of the colonies had to pay money like the Tea Act, Sugar Act, etc. As a result of this rage, the Boston Tea Party had occurred at Boston Harbor. So the colonies decided to take a step towards to diminishing this policy. To do so, the Continental Congress had asked for Thomas Jefferson to write the Declaration of Independence. In the document Jefferson had stated that the people of the colonies the right to have "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". Hearing this news, Britain's leader, King George III had ordered a war. There were two teams. One was the Loyalists and the other was the Patriots. Even though people in the thirteen colonies were angry, many people were still supportive of Britain. They were called the Loyalists. However, the people who were supportive of the thirteen colonies were called the Patriots. At first, the British soldiers came to Lexington and Concord. Since the Patriots were well aware of the Revolutionary War, they were ready. Many wars were continued. At some point the Loyalists won and at the other point the Patriots won. However, the Patriots had won because the Loyalists were running out of weapons and money. That has then caused the Declaration of Independence to be passed and the statue of the King was then taken off as the leader.

Great Britain and the colonists took many different steps toward conflict, many soldiers and battles were lost. But on the other hand there were also some victories and turning points. Tensions started growing in 1765, when British parliament passed the Stamp Act it was the first of many to actually affect not only the rich but also the average colonist; they had to purchase a stamp when purchasing anything as a “proof of purchase”. The Boston Massacre of 1770 where colonists protested and British soldiers fired into the unarmed crowd killing 5 colonists, it was knows as “the shot heard around the world”, this really heated things up between the two groups. The port of Boston was closed by British and troops maintained law and protected the area. These weren’t the only things done by British to the colonists, Tea act, Townshend acts, Intolerable acts and etc. Also had a big part in tensions rising between the colonists and British. This was the start of the revolution in America.
