Stats help Q.If the probabilities are 0.20,0.15 and 0.03 that a student will get a failing grade in chemistry and english or in both,what is the probability that the student will get a failing grade in atleast one of these subjects.
@xlegendx
3 probabilities?
Yeah?
is it 0.20 - chem; 0.15 - eng; 0.03 - both?
I guess.
i smell the stench of contingency table...
are you familiar with that?
Nope,like i said i'm just 12.
this would be tough....maybe i can show it to you and you might get it?
Is there any other way to do this? :p @hartnn you know? :3 he always explains me stats.
i suppose it is better for a user with 99 SmartScore to explain it eh @hartnn ?
*yawns* brb
ok... Failing in both means failing in chemistry AND English its probability = 0.03 given Failing in atleast one subject = failing in chemistry OR English its probability is to be found.
got that much ?
Failing in at least one subject = (failing in chem) OR (failing in English) OR (failing in both)
It is also the same as 1- (NOT failing in both)
^she's good
haha! how did i miss that :P
lol. 99s tend to think in an overcomplicated fashion
Who is the correct one? :3
well...callisto was the only one who said anything....hart just stated the given....
@Callisto explain me plz
although i think hartnn was about to go into set theories
