A countrys people consume 6.7 billion pounds of candy per year. Express this quantity in terms of pounds per person per month. Note that the population of the country is 302 million. What is the amount of candy consumed in pounds per person per month?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In 12 months, 302 million people consumed 6.7 billion pounds of candy. Lets first find the candy consumed per person: \[\frac{ 6.7 billion pounds of candy }{ 302 million people }= 22.185 pounds of candy per person per year\] Now, since there are twelve months in a year, we need to divide this by twelve to get our answer: \[22.185/12 \approx 1.849 pounds per person per month\]

Thank you so much. I knew it had multiple steps but I was struggling on how exactly it would be solved.
