Can someone explain how to solve this please? The inequality x^2-14x>15 is equivalent to:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is equivalent to: x^2 - 14x - 15 > 0 (x - 15)(x + 1) > 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so x is greater than 15 and -1, which really just means x is greater than -1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x < -1 and greater than 15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why is x< -1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you have to plug in manually in the equation (x - 15)(x + 1) > 0 you can see that if x is between -1 and 15, it is not > 0
