(07.02 MC)How did war in the trenches impact soldiers? Trenches provided warm, dry places for soldiers to live during battles. Trenches shielded soldiers from artillery, chemical warfare, and disease. Trenches were cold and wet, leading to a myriad of infections and diseases. Trenches changed the war from a two-front war to a one-front war.

trenches were mainly shields for the soldiers, although not effective towards poisonous gases and bombs. Trenches also were susceptible to the weather, and they were often cold, wet, and festered with disease. (check out the movie, "All Quiet on the Western Front"
