Imhotep was the first architect and physician known in written history. He also designed some of the pyramids that still stand today. Imhotep is called the “god of healing and cures” because of the medical work that he pioneered. Before the Europeans came to Africa, African had experienced three golden years, three Roman empires and three of the Roman popes were African. According to Cheikh Diop, in his research he was able to prove that ancient Egypt had in fact been a Black African culture. By microscopic analysis he was able to determine the skin color of the Ancient Egyptians. The analysis proved that the Egyptians were dark skinned. He wanted to check some of the mummies from Acient Egypt to see if any of them were also African, he was told he could not continue his research. That was one of the ways the Europeans denied us our history. Before the Europeans came to Africa, African had experienced three golden years, three Roman empires and three of the Roman popes were African. During this period, West African countries traded with Mediterranean countries, this was called the Trans-Saharan Trade. The area that is now known as the Sahara, use to be the home of many people who had their own businesses. The western countries used to trade gold to the Mediterranean countries and they would trade salt to the western countries
