See, the area of the circular base is pi * r^2 . And there are two circular bases one on either end, so total circular area is 2 (pi * r^2) And the area of the curved surface is 2 * pi * r * h Now add both the area you must get ; 2 * pi * r ( r +h) You can directly use the last formula.. but it will be more clearer to you if you do it in detail.
