consider someone throwing balls at you at a constant rate of 1 ball 1 second.. u will receive the ball at the same rate when thrower is stationary... when the thrower starts moving towards you at some velocity , u will recieve more balls in one second though he throws the ball at rate of 1 ball/sec towards u.... frequency similarly changes for a observer due to relative motion of source and observer.... this is doppler effect... this effect is shown by both em nd non em waves (sound).. dopler radar uses em waves to predict the velocity of an object... what it does is it shines a beam of em waveon moving object... nd notes the change in frequency of reflected wave with time...
