1. What does it mean when scientists say that living organisms share a universal genetic code?

Are you familiar with the genetic code we use to translate from mRNA to amino acids?

OpenStudy (frostbite):

Well... it turns out that the code (almost) applies to any living organisms we know (being universal)... So even though we have different DNA and thereby get to look different we share the same code that is being used in the process to determine how we are going to look like.
