OpenStudy (anonymous):

a drawer holds 6 white socks, 8 black socks, and 4 blue socks. if a sock is pulled from the drawer randomly, what is the probability that it will not be a blue sock?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

how many not blue socks are there?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

also, determine the total number of socks; then divide

OpenStudy (anonymous):

theres 14 non blue socks. total number of socks is 18.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but what do i divide...???

OpenStudy (amistre64):

14/18 of course

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if you do 18/14 then you get a probability greater than 1 ... and there just isnt a greater than 100% chance youll get "not a blue"
