how to graph y+8=1/4(x-2)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well there are 2 ways. it is currently in standard form. you could convert that to slope-intercept form, OR you could just plot it right away. looking at the formula for standard form, we know that this line contains the point (2, -8) and has a slope of 1/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isn't -2 * 1/4 -8 the y-intercept????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct, it is not necessary to find the y-intercept to graph it though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

really I thought that is what first point is then go up one and right 4 since it is positive?
