@amistre64 Help me !!! what is the determinate of the matrix whose every entry below the minor diagonal , i.e. the diagonal from the top left to the bottom right, is 0

OpenStudy (amistre64):

|dw:1373381157393:dw| isnt it the product of the diagonal?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

2 3 0 1 2(1) - 3(0)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

0 23423 01201 00500 2(1)(5) + 000

OpenStudy (amistre64):

its the product of the diagonal entries

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

@amistre64 , sorry my mistake, the entries below the MINOR diagonal, not the MAJOR one. It should be the diagonal you didn't draw

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

@amistre64 I mean the MINOR diagonal

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if your talking about the bottom left to top right ... its still applicable, but with a sign change 2 3 1 0 the diagonal is 1,3 the determinant is -1(3) 2 3 3 1 1 0 1 0 0 the diagonal is 1,1,3 the determinant is -1(1)(3)

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

so it's the product of -1 and all the diagonal entries?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yes

OpenStudy (caozeyuan):

Oh thx!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

youre welcome
